ADULT CLASSES

Adult classes at D2 are for ages 16+ and welcome complete beginners to the more experienced. Classes are run in three hour sessions with a tutor offering individual guidance throughout the session.

Classes are conducted on a flexible basis with bookings made online, in advance. Students should bring their own materials.

Children at D2 experience fun and exciting challenges by experimenting, developing skills, working with different materials and learning about art history. Children are encouraged to explore using their individual imaginations and the development of practical skills.

All materials are provided and classes are booked via an online booking system in 5 week blocks.

LIFE DRAWING

This class will appeal to all artists; beginners, students or professionals. Figure drawing is a core part of any art practice and improves observational drawing skills and essential if building a portfolio for art school entry. In addition, this is a relaxing and timeless subject that can be enjoyed by all.

YOUNG ARTIST

6pm - 8pm
Young artists classes at D2 are for high school students from 1st - 6th year who would like to develop their artistic ambitions.
These classes give young people the opportunity to begin creative discoveries, be adventurous and learn in a unique art environment.

Our young artists will experiment with a variety of different materials, work with many different subject matters and learn about art history.
Students are asked to bring a selection of materials whilst others are provided in the class. Please send us an email if you would like to join the waiting list for out term time classes.

HALLOWEEN PET PORTRAIT CLASS
Saturday 28th October
10am - 4pm
In this relaxed, instructive workshop you will learn how to draw a realistic, Halloween themed pet portrait using coloured pencils.
You will learn a variety of tips and techniques from a professional pet portrait artist which will be transferrable to your future projects should you wish to draw more animals.
The workshop is suitable for adults who have an interest in drawing animals or pets and want to put coloured pencils to good use!
All materials and full instructions will be provided to allow beginners and advanced artists alike to have fun and produce great results!
Please bring your lunch.

CROCHET POSI PURSE WORKSHOP
Sunday 19th November
10.30am - 4.30pm
Come and make a crochet purse with Alison of Knitrospective - perfect for storing your crochet hooks, pens, make-up or phone. Pop it in your bag, craft basket or give as a gift. Why not make it as a sweet stocking filler?
Suitable for people who already know crochet basics or who enjoy a simple project, you will use chain, double, half treble and treble cluster stitches. There will be written & illustrated instructions with plenty of patient help and attention.
The crochet purse is made in mercerised cotton and secured with a button. All materials are provided and you'll go home with your own crochet hook and the pattern to make some more.
This is a day workshop from 10.30-4.30, with plenty of breaks for tea, coffee and homemade cake. Please bring your own lunch.

HOLIDAY ART WEEKS
16th - 20th October 2023
Monday - Friday 10am-3pm
During school holidays, we provide art weeks for children aged 7 - 12 years.
These weeks consist of 5 half/full days packed with exciting art activities including drawing, painting, sculpture, working with textiles and printmaking.
On the final day at 3pm we have a mini exhibition to display all the wonderful work that has been created during the week.

All materials included, children should bring a packed lunch for supervised lunch sessions if attending the full day. Morning snacks will be provided.
We advise wearing old clothes as sometimes it gets messy!

PENGUIN PORTRAIT
WORKSHOP

LONG STITCH
BOOKBINDING
Saturday 18th November
10am - 3.30pm
In this one day workshop you will learn how to make a wrap-around journal with a leather cover. This kind of binding opens flat and is perfect for artists, note-taking, scrapbooking or to carry around. They also make an ideal present for the festive season!

You will be introduced to basic concepts of bookbinding before practising sewing & experimenting with ways of making a tie for your book. You will then leave with a finished journal and the skills to do more at home with your own materials and a few simple tools!
​
Please bring to the class from home, a cutting mat if you have one and a ruler (preferably 30 cm long) and your lunch. All materials and specialist tools will be provided, free to use. Tools will be available to purchase if you fancy taking them home to do some more bookbinding!

BOOKBINDING
WORKSHOP
Sunday 3rd December
10am - 3.30pm
In this one day workshop, you will learn how to make a Japanese style binding in two different variations: with a flexible paper cover and with a hard cover. This kind of binding is ideal for small notebooks to carry around and to make scrapbooks or photo albums. They also make an ideal present for the festive season!

You will be introduced to basic concepts of bookbinding before practising stab sewing and choosing between a variety of decorated papers to personalise your book. You will go home with two finished notebooks and the skills to do more at home with your own materials and a few simple tools!
​
Please bring to the class from home a cutting mat if you have one and a ruler (preferably 30 cm long) and your lunch. All materials and specialist tools will be provided, free to use. Tools will be available to purchase if you fancy taking them home to do some more bookbinding!

ABOUT
D2 The Creative Centre is a multi-purpose arts centre located in Larbert which houses a large teaching studio, a fantastic exhibition space and 14 artists studios.
A wide variety of classes run throughout the week offering classes for adults, young artists and children. D2 welcomes and values the individual and encourages the development of ambitions.

Our large exhibition space located on the first floor, offers a remarkable opportunity in Central Scotland for endless arts related purposes, installations, music, dance, drama and events.

EXHIBITIONS





STUDIO SPACE
D2 The Creative Centre hosts 14 resident artist studios, these vary in size from 114 sq ft to 476 sq ft and are available with long or short term leases. The studios are affordable as our range of sizes offer artists the opportunity to find their ideal space within their ideal budget. The cost is inclusive of rates, heating and lighting.
Resident artists enjoy 24 hour access to their studios. The common room acts as a hub where all users of D2 can take a break to meet, eat, drink or just chat.
Parking space exists at the front of the building which is located within a secure industrial estate. In addition D2 The Creative Centre has its own 24 hour alarm system.
​
Currently we have artists who specialise in painting, jewellery making, botanical illustration, photography, screen printing and crafts. We also house several businesses within D2.
