Adult classes at D2 are for ages 16+ and welcome complete beginners to the more experienced. Classes are run in three hour sessions with a tutor offering individual guidance throughout the session.

Classes are conducted on a flexible basis with bookings made online, in advance. Students should bring their own materials.

Children at D2 experience fun and exciting challenges by experimenting, developing skills, working with different materials and learning about art history. Children are encouraged to explore using their individual imaginations and the development of practical skills.

All materials are provided and classes are booked via an online booking system in 4 week blocks.

This class will appeal to all artists; beginners, students or professionals. Figure drawing is a core part of any art practice and improves observational drawing skills and essential if building a portfolio for art school entry. In addition, this is a relaxing and timeless subject that can be enjoyed by all.

Booking is essential, students should bring their own materials.

YOUNG ARTIST

Young artists classes at D2 are for high school students from 1st - 6th year who would like to develop their artistic ambitions. These classes give young people the opportunity to begin creative discoveries, be adventurous and learn in a unique art environment.

Our young artists will experiment with a variety of different materials, work with many different subject matters and learn about art history with regular presentations about important artists and movements from throughout art history.
Students are asked to bring a selection of materials, these include: A4 or A3 sketchbook, acrylic paint, HB & 2B pencil, fine line black pen, palette and paintbrushes.

D2 offers a variety of different specialist art and craft classes throughout the year. These workshops have included bookbinding, felt jewellery, bag making, silk painting, mosaic making, pet portrait drawing/colouring, crochet and many more.

Our specialist workshops are led by resident and visiting artists who want to share something a little different from what we offer in our weekly adult classes.
​

HOLIDAY
ART WEEKS
Summer, October &
Easter Holidays
Our next week will run from the 21st - 25th of October 2024 10am - 3pm for ages 7-12 years.

D2 runs holiday art weeks during the Easter, Summer and October holidays.
Classes run Monday - Friday & include drawing, painting, textiles, sculpture & printmaking activities as well as lots of fun and games. On the final day all work created during the week will be displayed in a mini exhibition for families to view.
​
All materials are provided, all children need to bring is a packed lunch if attending full day sessions. Wearing old clothes is advised as sometimes we may be using messy materials.​​

FIGURATIVE CLAY
WORKSHOP
Saturday 9th November
10am - 3pm
In this practical workshop you will learn how to sculpt a 3D figure from clay, experimenting with curves & form to create a female figure. Whether you are a beginner or self-taught artist you’ll love this practical & imaginative class.
​
To start, you will create a mood board with inspirational images & perspective drawings, to help shape your sculpture. You will gain a basic understanding of the human anatomy and learn how to use a variety of tools to ‘rough & ‘fine’ model your figure. The final stage will be how to hollow out your sculpture and make slips in preparation for firing in a kiln.​
​
We will arrange to have sculptures fired and set a date for collection.
​
All materials are included, please bring your lunch and an apron if you wish.

CREAM MAKING
WORKSHOP
Saturday 16th November
10am-1pm
In this practical workshop you will learn the basic techniques of cream making with essential oils and how to incorporate these into recipes for different types of creams. If time permits there will also be a lip balm making demonstration with samples.
This workshop is for beginners and aims to start you off on your own creative journey with cream making. This is a relaxed, practical workshop that focuses on experimentation and recipe making.
All materials will be provided and you will be able to take away your finished creams at the end of the class. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available during a short break in the class.
You may wish to bring a notebook and an apron.

PARENT & CHILD
XMAS WONDERLAND
Saturday 23rd November
1pm-3pm
Get into the festive spirit with our new workshop aimed at parents & children who would like to create art together, as well as special memories.
In this workshop, Lesley Anne Derks will guide you through the process of making your own festive wonderland scene using a mixture of watercolour & drawing techniques. Everyone will be encouraged to experiment with the materials to create a unique piece of work to be taken home at the end of the session. Artworks will look fabulous on display in your home this Christmas or perhaps a gift for someone special.​​​
​
Children must be 7+, max 2 children to one adult. Workshop price (£35) is for one adult & one child. An additional child can be added for £10.​​​ Please wear older clothes or bring an apron, gloves will be provided.​​

ABOUT
D2 The Creative Centre is a multi-purpose arts centre located in Larbert which houses a large teaching studio, a fantastic exhibition space and 14 artists studios.
A wide variety of classes run throughout the week offering classes for adults, young artists and children. D2 welcomes and values the individual and encourages the development of ambitions.

Our large exhibition space located on the first floor, offers a remarkable opportunity in Central Scotland for endless arts related purposes, installations, music, dance, drama and events.

EXHIBITIONS
STUDIO SPACE
D2 The Creative Centre hosts 14 resident artist studios, these vary in size from 114 sq ft to 476 sq ft and are available with long or short term leases. The studios are affordable as our range of sizes offer artists the opportunity to find their ideal space within their ideal budget. The cost is inclusive of rates, heating and lighting.
Resident artists enjoy 24 hour access to their studios. The common room acts as a hub where all users of D2 can take a break to meet, eat, drink or just chat.
Parking space exists at the front of the building which is located within a secure industrial estate. In addition D2 The Creative Centre has its own 24 hour alarm system.
​
Currently we have artists who specialise in painting, jewellery making, botanical illustration, photography, screen printing and crafts. We also house several businesses within D2.
