ADULT CLASSES

Adult classes at D2 are for ages 16+ and welcome complete beginners to the more experienced. Classes are run in three hour sessions with a tutor offering individual guidance throughout the session.
Classes are conducted on a flexible basis with bookings made online, in advance. Students should bring their own materials.

Children at D2 experience fun and exciting challenges by experimenting, developing skills, working with different materials and learning about art history. Children are encouraged to explore using their individual imaginations and the development of practical skills.
All materials are provided and classes are booked via an online booking system in 5 week blocks.

LIFE DRAWING

This class will appeal to all artists; beginners, students or professionals. Figure drawing is a core part of any art practice and improves observational drawing skills and essential if building a portfolio for art school entry. In addition, this is a relaxing and timeless subject that can be enjoyed by all.
Booking is essential, students should bring their own materials.

YOUNG ARTIST

Young artists classes at D2 are for high school students from 1st - 5th year who would like to develop their artistic ambitions.
These classes give young people the opportunity to begin creative discoveries, be adventurous and learn in a unique art environment.
Students are asked to bring a selection of materials whilst others are provided in the class.

ART WEEK
4th - 8th & 18th - 22nd July
Monday - Friday 10am-3pm
During school holidays, we provide art weeks for children ages 7 - 12 years.
These weeks consist of 5 days packed with exciting art activities including drawing, painting, working with textiles, printmaking, and sculpture.
A mini exhibition will take place at the end of the week to show off all the wonderful work the young people make.

D2 The Creative Centre is excited to be hosting a series of specialist art and craft classes this year.
These classes will be led by different residents artist in D2 and have been created for anyone looking to learn a new skill and have some fun being creative.
These will include: an introduction to textiles, portraiture classes, mosaic class, bookbinding, felt jewellery and silk scarf painting.

FELTING AND WINE WITH AGGI
Friday 17th June 2022
6.30pm - 9.30pm
A relaxed evening that will introduce you to the art of creating felt jewellery, whilst enjoying a glass of wine with like minded individuals.
Agnieszka Marciniak will demonstrate two different kinds of felt work, wet felting and needle felting and you will use these techniques to create your own unique piece of jewellery. Options include necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches and more.
Agnieszka is a textile artist who creates stunning jewellery, sculptures, dolls and artwork from different types of textiles, this will be the first of many workshops that will explore the world of textile art!
You will leave with a finished piece of jewellery and the skills to make more at home. 3 glass maximum per student with the wine, as we are using big needles!

LONG STITCH BOOKBINDING

In this 4 hour long stitch bookbinding workshop you will learn how to make a wrap-around journal with leather cover. This kind of binding opens flat and is perfect for artists, note taking, scrap booking or to carry around. You will practise sewing and will be able to experiment ways of making a tie for your book.
You will learn about basic concepts of bookbinding (common tools and material, grain direction, nomenclature and a brief intro to various bookbinding styles). A few patterns and book samples will be available to look at and take inspiration from.
Leave with a finished journal and the skills to do more at home with a few simple tools!

SILK SCARF PAINTING
Saturday 25th June 2022
10am - 4pm
Silk painting is a fun, exciting medium, in some ways, remarkably similar, to watercolour painting. In this one-day workshop you will design and paint your very own silk scarf using iron fixed silk paints.
You will spend the first part of the class planning the design of your scarf before exploring a range of different techniques such as gutta outline and salt technique. A range of motifs, patterns ideas will be available to work from, but please feel free to bring along your own source material to inspire you.
Working from your designs you will then create your very own beautiful scarf to take home.
All materials are included. Please bring lunch, teas/coffees will be provided.

D2 The Creative Centre is a multi-purpose arts centre located in Larbert which houses a large teaching studio, a fantastic exhibition space and 14 artists studios.
A wide variety of classes run throughout the week offering classes for adults, young artists and children. D2 welcomes and values the individual and encourages the development of ambitions.
Our large exhibition space located on the first floor, offers a remarkable opportunity in Central Scotland for endless arts related purposes, installations, music, dance, drama and events.

STUDIO SPACE
D2 The Creative Centre hosts 14 resident artist studios, these vary in size from 114 sq ft to 476 sq ft and are available with long or short term leases. The studios are affordable as our range of sizes offer artists the opportunity to find their ideal space within their ideal budget. The cost is inclusive of rates, heating and lighting.
Resident artists enjoy 24 hour access to their studios. The common room acts as a hub where all users of D2 can take a break to meet, eat, drink or just chat.
Parking space exists at the front of the building which is located within a secure industrial estate. In addition D2 The Creative Centre has its own 24 hour alarm system.
Currently we have artists who specialise in painting, jewellery making, botanical illustration, photography, screen printing and crafts. We also house several businesses within D2.
